Uniform Policy
PS/MS 31 is a uniform school. Students are required to be in full uniform each day. Any students
found not to be in uniform will receive a phone call home and be required to wear a PS/MS 31
loaner uniform for the day. The PS/MS 31 Uniform includes the following items:
Requirements
Item
Elementary – Burgundy collared shirt with PS/MS 31 logo.
Middle School – Black collared shirt with PS/MS 31 logo.
Students will be given opportunities to wear other uniform shirts (different colors, specialized logos) distributed to them based on incentives and other school initiatives.
Shirt/Top
Students are allowed to wear the PS/MS 31 cardigans. Students are no longer allowed to wear the PS/MS 31 hoodies.
Cardigans/Sweatshirts
Navy blue/black khaki pants (no shorts):
o Must have belt loops
o Must be worn at waist level
o No visible logos, patchwork, or rips/frayed detail
o No holes
o No spandex
o Solid black or brown belt only (no studs or designs)
Pants/Bottom
Solid Navy-blue/black skirts only (no patterns)
o Must be to knee length
o No slits above fingertip length
Skirts
Socks must be worn at all times
Sneakers must have shoelaces
No flip flops, slippers, slip-ons or slides allowed (including Crocs)
Socks/Shoes
Headwear
No hats, sweatbands, or head coverings/scarves (unless for cultural/religious reasons)
No headbands, large trinkets on hair
Other jewelry: Necklaces must be small enough to be tucked into the uniform shirt during PE and elective clubs
Permanent/Non-Permanent Tattoos: No designs of any kind on the face or body
Accessories
Students can wear any outdoor clothing of their choosing (rain boots, snow boots, scarves, sweater) to school
